This Cookie Policy explains what cookies FieldNotes uses, why, and what control you have over them. We keep it short because our cookie use is minimal by design.
Cookies are small text files stored on your device by your browser when you visit a website. They allow the website to remember information about your visit — such as whether you are logged in.

On our marketing site (the pages you're reading now), we use Plausible Analytics to understand aggregate traffic — for example, how many people visit, which pages they read, and which sites referred them to us.
Plausible is built specifically not to require cookie consent, because it:
Because it sets no cookies and processes no personal data, Plausible does not appear in the cookie table in Section 2 and does not trigger the consent requirements that apply to cookie-based analytics under GDPR/ePrivacy rules. We disclose it here anyway, in the interest of full transparency: our "no tracking" commitment means we don't identify or follow individual visitors — it doesn't mean we operate the site with zero visibility into how it's used.
This applies only to the public marketing site. The FieldNotes application itself (where you do your research work) uses no analytics tracking of any kind.
The access_token cookie is strictly necessary for the Service to function — without it you cannot log in. Under GDPR and the Dutch Telecommunications Act (Telecommunicatiewet), strictly necessary cookies do not require consent. We set this cookie only when you actively log in.
You can control cookies through your browser settings. Note that disabling the access_token cookie will prevent you from logging in to FieldNotes. The following links explain cookie management for common browsers:
If we ever introduce cookie-based analytics, advertising, or tracking of any kind, we will update this policy and present a new consent banner before setting those cookies.
